Confidentiality policy

When you register as a user or make a purchase through one of Bokbörsen’s webpages and accept our terms and conditions, you also give Bokbörsen permission to handle your personal details as described in this document. By “personal details” we mean the information that may be traced directly or indirectly to an individual.


The information we gather

User details:

- The information you provide when you register as a user or make a purchase through the Express checkout without registering an account. This includes your name, address, personal number, email address and, if you have registered as a seller, your bank account number. Bokbörsen stores this information and has the right to check that it is correct.

- Information from external sources, such as your registered address and your credit history, provided by a credit bureau

Technical information:

When you use our services we may gather certain technical details, such as information about what kind of computer you are using, which operating system and browser you use, the name of your internet provider and your IP address.

Your activities on our site:

- Information about the orders you place or receive is stored with their dates. This includes related advertisement details, cancelations, payments and information about non-payment or non-delivery.

- Information about your activities that we gather by using cookies.

- Messages that are sent using the form provided on our site are stored for a limited period.

Storage and protection of personal details

We use a number of administrative and technical methods to prevent unauthorized access or use of your personal details. These include firewalls and data encryption. All data is stored on servers that are kept in secure premises with limited access.

How we use the data we gather

The data we gather is used to administer and improve our services securely and efficiently and to prevent abuse. This includes:

- notifying you of events relating to your use of our services, such as new orders, new invoices and payments, cancelations, non-delivery and so on;

- solving problems with users’ accounts and resolving disputes between users;

- verifying the accuracy of entered details by comparing them with those from external sources;

- preventing, discovering and investigating fraud, security problems and prohibited or illegal activities;

- solving any technical problems with our websites.

We may also use your personal details to keep you updated with important information about our services, e.g. changes in our terms and conditions, fees or technical features.

Similarly, we may use your personal details to send you information such as newsletters or suggestions about your use of our services. If you do not wish to receive this kind of information, you can simply unsubscribe.

Bokbörsen collaborates with other companies – largely those that deal with technical services such as debt collection, shipping services, web design and web hosting. These companies will only be able to access the details they require for these tasks and they are bound by a confidentiality agreement with Bokbörsen that apply with requirements for personal data assistant agreement according to GDPR.

Release of personal details

Bokbörsen will not allow any unauthorized person access to your personal details. We are not permitted to release your personal details to any third parties except for the companies with which we collaborate, as described above, and to the parties described below.

Other users with whom you place orders or who place orders with you will be able to see your name, address, telephone number, email address and user-id on Bokbörsen. Your personal details in orders on Bokbörsen will be anonymized after two years.

We never release your personal number directly to other Bokbörsen users. However, we cannot guarantee that your personal number will not be visible to the creditor in case of debt collection on invoices for orders that you have placed through Bokbörsen.

If you choose to register as a seller, other users will be able to contact you via email using a contact form that users who log in can access on our website. Your name will be displayed in your ads if you have not chosen to use an alias. When you confirm a new order the customer will gain access to your bank account number.

If Bokbörsen is purchased by or merges with another company, we maintain the right to transfer some or all of your personal details to that company.

In accordance with the law, Bokbörsen has the right to release certain information to the police or other supervisory authorities in cases of criminal investigations or claims of unlawful activities that may be the responsibility of Bokbörsen or any of its users.

Checking your details

If you have registered a user account with Bokbörsen, you will be able to see all your personal details on your interface when you have logged in. You can check and update them, with the exception of your personal number and any seller alias. You can also see your complete order history, both as buyer and, if you are a registered seller, as seller. If you have purchased items through the Express checkout without registering an account, you can access your order history by registering an account.

Cookies

Bokbörsen uses cookies. Cookies are small text files that are stored temporarily on the user’s computer. This is mainly to facilitate use of our services. The user can opt not to accept cookies by adjusting the settings on their browser, but they may then be unable to make full use of the service.

Deregistration

For technical and legal reasons, the personal details of those who have closed their user account may not be completely erased from our servers. For instance, information about user history may be stored for a long time in order to ensure the functionality of other users’ order histories. The personal numbers is always erased when we close a user account.

Responsible for personal details  ("Personuppgiftsansvarig" according to swedish law) is Bokbörsen AB, Box 3527, 103 69 Stockholm with org. no: 556811-6601, or any other company to which we have transferred our data, rights and responsibilities following purchase of or merger with Bokbörsen.
